The terroir
The property, located in the heart of a protected area, covers a total of 5 hectares of vines planted with traditional Languedoc grape varieties. From the inception, we only had Merlot and Carignan: later on we “grafted” part of the Merlot with precisely selected white grape varieties to suit the soil: Grenache blanc and Clairette. In 2009 we also acquired plots planted with Syrah and Cinsault.
The property is situated in the Terasse du Larzac, an exceptional terroir in the Languedoc area, being surrounded by the mountains of the Plateau du Larzac in the North and facing the hills of Aniane in the South. Even though we are enjoying 300 days of sun per year during winter and spring we are prised with enough rain to take us through summer without the vines suffering too much. The situation offers a summer with hot sunny days and a cool breeze during nights that gives the grapes a perfect maturity with still a lot of acidity to balance the sugar content.
